What is a cystocele?

Writer's picture: fgardnerptfgardnerpt

It's basically a prolapse of your bladder where the organ drops from its normal position and pushes on the vagina wall.

The front wall of the vagina, along with the pelvic floor muscles and connective tissue support the bladder and it can weaken for various reasons (some of which include pregnancy and childbirth).

I have a mild cystocele which is waaay worse when I'm weight-bearing, so standing, jumping or carrying weight (like lifting the kids). I know this, because I had a mummyMOT® internal exam myself during training.
