New Years resolutions



Here come the runners!

As a pelvic health physio I see many, many women keen to get back to high impact exercise, HIIT and running ASAP after childbirth.

As a woman I completely understand this urge and the desire for the freedom and mental health benefits of running. However, from a medical perspective we must also consider the huge physical and mental implications of pregnancy and childbirth prior to advising return to impact.


As therapists we must assess a clients readiness using evidence based guidance to support our decision making.


The published guideline is available free online: “Returning to running postnatal – guidelines for medical, health and fitness professionals managing this population”(Goom, Donnelly & Brockwell 2019).
